It's a | Main Meal | ||
Making this is | Easy | ||
You will need |
1 egg 1 slice of toast A little butter to spread on the toast 4 tablespoons of cooking oil or olive oil Optional: Fried tomatoes or bacon to go with it. |
||
What to do |
1. Put the oil into a small frying pan and put over a medium heat until it is hot. 2. When the oil is hot, crack open the egg, making sure not to break the yolk. 3. Turn the stove down to a low heat. 4. Put the entire egg into the pan. Be careful because the oil might spit a little as the egg goes in. 5. After a few seconds the egg will start to change from clear to white. When this happens, tilt the pan to one side so the oil flows into a pool. 6. Use a metal spoon to scoop up the hot oil and pour it gently over the top of the egg. This cooks the top of the egg without you having to try turning it over. 7. After about 1 to 2 minutes your egg should be cooked. You can see how firm the yolk has become by gently tapping it with your spoon. 8. Use a spatula to lift the egg out of the pan and rest it on top of a slice of buttered toast. TIP: For a larger meal, serve with fried tomatoes, bacon or baked beans. |
